10 Hard Rock Bands Who FIRED Important Members
1. Black Sabbath - Ozzy Osbourne
Out of every other musician in metal music, Ozzy Osbourne has had one of the oddest career trajectories. From the looks of raw album sales, it looks amazing, with him coming from the end of Black Sabbath to having one of the greatest solo careers in history with albums like Blizzard of Ozz.
Just before he got Randy Rhoads in tow though, he was looking like the punch line of the entire hard rock community.
As Sabbath came off of albums like Sabotage, it was becoming clear that the iteration of the band with Ozzy wasn't going to pan out, with Ozzy becoming more and more blitzed out of his mind on cocaine at every turn.
By the time that they actually went on tour for albums like Technical Ecstasy, Ozzy could no longer be considered the frontman anymore, often appearing off to the side while Tony Iommi grabbed the spotlight.
After teasing leaving the band for so long, Sabbath eventually relented and decided to let Ozzy go after the release of Never Say Die, eventually trading up with Ronnie James Dio for the album Heaven and Hell shortly afterward. Considering that Ozzy found another guitar god in Randy Rhoads though for his first few solo outings, it's safe to say that both parties found themselves on stable ground afterward.
