10 Hard Rock Bands Who Made 3 Great Albums In A Row
1. Guns N' Roses
There has never been another debut album that storms out the gates quite like Guns N Roses’ Appetite for Destruction. There isn’t a bad song on the record, it’s one of the most fun, audacious, massive collection of songs ever recorded. It’s an ode to the Sunset Strip, full of sex appeal and influenced by the flash of Aerosmith, the attitude of The Ramones and the flair of Van Halen.
Most bands would be happy to write one song half as good as those on Appetite for Destruction, let alone 12 songs like this. From Welcome to the Jungle to Sweet Child of Mine it’s a mainstream greatest hits but everything from My Michelle to Mr Brownstone and Anything Goes is a classic. They end it by setting down the blueprint for their follow up albums’ sprawling epic in Rocket Queen.
What came next was Use Your Illusion I and II, two separate beasts released on the same day. With less glam but ten times the attitude, these records are a challenge to any punk questioning their master, it’s menacing and vicious. Everything about these Guns N Roses records is epic, we’d like to see another band try to be this confrontational while making anthems with a swagger and massiveness like this.
