10 Hard Rock Bands Who Made 5 Great Albums In A Row

1. Led Zeppelin

Of course they’re here. You can’t write any list of hard rock bands with great albums without mentioning Led Zeppelin. Referred to by many as the greatest rock band of all time, this quartet of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham have heavily impacted all echelons of music since releasing their first album in 1969. Through great experimentation, artistic virtuosity and sheer tightness as a band, Led Zep have written some stonking classics.

Although we agree that the first Led Zeppelin album is a classic, we start our five album run with Led Zeppelin II (1969) where the band solidified their sound, created their signature style and set the bar insanely high for others to follow. People tend to disagree about the quality of 1970s Led Zeppelin III due to its relying on acoustic tunes but all doubt is cast aside when it comes to their arguable classic, Led Zeppelin IV. Full of enormous hard-rock bangers as well as massive amounts of character, you can’t argue with music this good.

Signing off this insane run are Houses of the Holy (1973) and Physical Graffiti (1975), the former being an epic with wide bearing influence and the latter being the provocative record made by a band falling apart at the seams under their massive success.

Nobody does hard rock quite like Led Zeppelin but everyone wishes they could.
