10 Hard Rock Bands Who Made 5 Great Albums In A Row
2. Queen
A band with more crossover appeal than any other on this list: everyone loves Queen. With an iconic lineup of Freddie Mercury, Brain May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor, each component of Queen was vital and every member wrote hit songs that have stayed just as relevant as they were almost 50 years ago. They’re one of the best selling bands in the world, they’ve broken chart records and they still get played at club nights all over the country, there’s no hard-rock band quite like Queen.
We’re dealing with a band so good that they have a whopping three greatest hits compilations, but their best five album run comes in the form of Queen (1973), Queen II (1974). Sheer Heart Attack (1974), A Night at the Opera (1975), A Day at the Races (1976), although we’d be happy to accept it’s a seven album run if you added on 1977s News of the World and 1978s Jazz.
The truth about Queen is that whilst they’re undoubtedly a hit factory but they’re also virtuosos, political and able to meld genres effortlessly. They took their hard-rock foundations and adventured around to write classic, timeless music.
