10 Hard Rock Christmas Songs That Are Actually Good
5. White Christmas - Guns N Roses?
Every so often, someone will get some crazy idea in their head. From challenging themselves in their creative medium to trying to pull off some wild left turn, many creative people have tried and failed to make two different worlds collide for some reason. At the same time, this version of "Axl Rose" is one example of when the challenge actually pays off in spades.
While the name on the tin here is Guns N Roses, you can tell right off the bat that this is a guy doing the best impression of the hard rock legend singing White Christmas. Despite some fans feeling cheated at not getting the real W. Axl Rose for this outing, you start to realize that this song is actually pretty good for what it is. From a production standpoint, this is exactly the kind of thing you'd expect from GNR, as the snarl of "Axl" is dialed in perfectly to make a friendly jab at the Bing Crosby classic.
There are even some smooth guitar licks sprinkled throughout which no doubt would have made Slash proud had he actually played on it. Even though this is not the Guns N Roses you're really looking for, this loving homage to one of the greatest bands of the '80s gave us a Christmas headbanger for the ages.
