10 Hard Rock Christmas Songs That Are Actually Good

3. Linus And Lucy - Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters have garnered a reputation as one of the least threatening hard rock bands to come into existence. Compared to something like Marilyn Manson or Rammstein from around the same time, this updating of the loud guitars and big-ass drums was much more in tune with good times, with songs that made you want to throw your fist in the air. Though this band could have made any song work based on Dave Grohl's unstoppable charisma, they chose to tap into everyone's childhood when they performed on SNL.

Being the guest of honor that night on the week of Christmas, Grohl and co. decided to turn it up a notch by performing the famous Linus and Lucy sequence that appears in a Charlie Brown Christmas. When set against the cool piano of the original, this sounds like a bunch of guys just having fun in their garage, blowing up this little classical piece just for the hell of it.

While you could argue that this version kind of misses the point of the original's soothing backing track, the loud guitars playing the main melody bridges the gap between the heavy riffs that you love today and the calm nostalgia you had as a kid. This kind of thing would be one of the more lovable entries in any other band's history, but for the Foos, it's just another notch on their belt.
