10 Hard Rock & Metal Bands Who Have NEVER Changed Lineups
1. Led Zeppelin
For one reason or another, it's almost inevitable that a band has to change their lineup every now and again. No matter how much heart and soul you put into your craft, there's occasionally that stick in the mud that isn't pulling their weight and needs to be let go. Then again, why would you change anything when the original lineup is already perfect?
Coming out originally as the New Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin's rise to the top was pretty much full proof from the very beginning. Although the original draw to the band was guitar legend Jimmy Page, listeners got one hell of a surprise when they heard Robert Plant, whose voice fell somewhere between Janis Joplin and Little Richard. Though the singer tends to get all the glory, the way that John Bonham locked in with Page was unstoppable, almost like you were listening to the audio equivalent of an earthquake whenever he played. Rounding out everything was John Paul Jones, who could be considered Zeppelin's secret weapon considering his work behind the bass, keyboards, and orchestral arrangements.
While the mighty force of Zeppelin seemed unstoppable, everything slowly came to a halt when John Bonham was found dead at the start of the '80s before they were about to take to the road. Seeing no real reason to carry on without Bonzo, the rest of Zeppelin decided to dissolve the family and go their separate ways shortly afterward. Even though people might be aching to hear some sort of Zeppelin reunion, you're only going to create this kind of magic once.
