10 Hard Rock & Metal Bands Who Have NEVER Changed Lineups
8. System Of A Down
The turn of the millennium was not really a glowing time for the nu metal genre. Instead of the tortured songs that you got from acts like Korn and Deftones in the early days, the more mainstream acts of old were strutting their stuff on TRL and killing any sort of goodwill the genre had left. There are exceptions though, and System of a Down was one of the crowned jewels among their JNCO jeans peers.
Off the strength of albums like Toxicity, these California natives were creating some of the most off-the-wall experiments to have ever been made in rock, with Daron Malakian incorporating Armenian folk music melodies into the traditional metal tunes. Even Serj Tankian's vocals were a sight to behold at the time, being both nasally at the right time and yet perfectly in tune. After the odyssey of Mezmerize and Hypnotize though, things slowly started ot turn a page.
After going on a lengthy hiatus, System has yet to release another full length album, as Tankian and Malakian failed to get on the same creative page. That's not to discount the rhythm section either, with Shavo Odajian and John Dolmayan bringing the right thunder to remind you that these guys are a metal act at the end of the day. While we did get a few morsels of new System music just last year, it's still up in the air whether these rock juggernauts will ever grace us with new music once again.
