10 Hard Rock & Metal Bands Who Have NEVER Changed Lineups
7. The Strokes
It's no secret that a lot of rock fans were getting tired of the standard rock gimmicks at the end of the '00s. As grunge's gloom started to breathe its last breaths and pop punk getting more and more manufactured by the minute, the guts of rock and roll really started to fade away. On the other hand, there were still some fantastic moments bubbling just underneath the surface.
Emerging from the garage rock scene in New York, the Strokes gave the entire rock scene a shot in the arm when they first broke out. Being a hyped version of the greats from the '70s, these 20 somethings were making the sounds of loud guitars and raw production sound exciting again, equipped with songs that felt like what the Rolling Stones would sound like if they were produced by Lou Reed.
When it comes to lineups though, these guys were practically airtight from the beginning. From the relentless backbeat from Fab Moretti to the symbiotic guitar relationship between Albert Hammond Jr. and Nick Valensi, the idea of any one member being dispensable is practically inconceivable. That's not even taking into account Julian Casablancas, whose voice lays on top of everything like some sort of toxic glue. As they venture further down the experimental rabbit hole with The New Abnormal, the Strokes have grown into their rock and roll boots, still as curious to see where their muse will take them as their audience is.
