10 Hard Rock & Metal Bands Who Have NEVER Changed Lineups
6. ZZ Top
There's no getting around the amount of influence that the blues has had on rock and roll. In fact, there's probably not a single guitar god who didn't start out playing something that blues legends like Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters hadn't already thought of first. Though rock has certainly changed since its humble beginnings, ZZ Top is still here as a reminder as to why the blues was so good to begin with.
That's not to say that these Texas boys have one string to their bow though, as they incorporated everything from synths to psychedelic soundscapes into their records over the years. Then again, the real crux of their power is how each member is able to lay back into the groove and serve up some bluesy goodness. Whereas Billy Gibbons gets all the credit in the world as the voice of the group, Dusty Hill definitely deserved his due respect as well, being one of the few bassists to incorporate blues, Southern Rock, and straight up swing into his delivery.
Over the years, the brotherhood hasn't seemed to shift either, as Hill and Gibbons proudly sport their blues regalia and their luscious beards on the road, all while Freak Beard remains as forceful and beard-less as ever behind the kit. It just goes to show that no matter what drama each of these men have going on in their lives, the blues will always bring them home.
