10 Hard Rock Music Videos That Got Banned

7. Lacquer Head - Primus

You can always count on Primus to come up with something strange, and this song from 1999's Antipop is no exception.

The record had a who's who of all-star producers working on it; from Tom Morello to Stewart Copeland to South Park's Matt Stone. Also behind the desk was Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit infamy, who was on hand to produce this delightful number.

Durst wanted the band to go back to their darker roots, so Lacquer Head became a song about three children addicted to various substances. That dark enough for you, Freddy?

The track was on dodgy ground to begin with thanks to its subject matter, so it's not a huge shock that its eventual music video was also met with resistance. It was banned for its drug references and "violent content", although it's hard to tell precisely what that charge is referring to.

The only thing it could be is the scene where the Devil spanks a gasoline-powered claymation man whilst riding him like a rocket ship. That might seem like a totally bonkers sentence, but it's actually pretty standard when talking about Primus.
