10 Highly Anticipated Heavy Metal Releases We Can't Wait To Hear In 2014

9. Slayer - Title Unknown, 2014

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-CIt5uHXlY While Slipknot and Slayer have little in common musically it is remarkably coincidental that both have suffered that loss of one member trough an untimely demise as well as a drummer. In Slayer's case the world lost axeman Jeff Hanneman in May of 2013 when he succumbed to the effects alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver. Later in the year drummer Dave Lombardo exited the band under confusing circumstances that were later revealed to be a firing over contractual differences. While Hanneman's replacement, Gary Holt, has been with the band since early 2011 due to the former's medical issues, he will not contribute as a writer on Slayer's new disc. Loudwire.com reported in October '13 that Kerry King has stated that fans aren't ready for Holt to contribute to the writing process, nor would it be fair to throw the new guy to the wolves. King asserted that at that time he had 'roughly' 14 songs in the pipe. In the same article frontman Tom Araya is quoted as saying that Hanneman was, "90 - 95% of the band musically". That leaves some interesting questions for Slayer fans about what direction the new album will take and makes the as yet untitled and unscheduled release, a highly anticipated item.
