10 Most Horrifically Overplayed Songs In Music History

7. Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ Everyone has been Rickrolled, that's just a fact of being an internet user. Rickrolling was one of the very first forms of trolling, that has evolved completely into it's own entity. The song was a hit in its day, but it grew to overplayed status in 2008. April Fools of that year was defined by the incessant wrath of the Rickrollers, with Rick Astley even performing live at the Macy Thanksgiving Parade...just to show you how BIG this became. The song is culturally significant because of it's viral consumption during the advent of YouTube as a legitimate viewing medium. Without this period of frantic sharing and rickrolling, the song probably would have been looked upon with the same fondness of an early Madonna track. A great melody, but still acceptable to play on occasion. This Stock Aitken Waterman powerhouse has mutated into a satirical piss take of itself, that is either loved or despised.
