10 Huge Rock Artists That Went Electronic (And Nailed It)
7. Enter Shakari
In the world of heavy music in the 2010's, Enter Shikari always stood out from the pack in some respects. As much as their riffs may have been a cut above the rest, the turn towards keyboards on some of their records made them look like they were trying to purge all of the heaviness from their DNA. And when they finally got chewed up and spit out by the digital monster, they came out sounding a lot better than they could have dreamed of.
Starting with the Mindsweep, Shikari were always inching towards something a little more surreal before blowing the doors wide open with The Spark. Across that album's runtime, you can practically see the band growing up in real time, shaking off the harsher sides of their sound and finding their knack as songwriters, with Live Outside being one of their most radio ready singles of their entire career.
They've never really looked back from that album either, with their later catalog taking that bombastic side of their sound that much further, whether it means the glitchy soundscapes of something like Crossing the Rubicon or even adding in a full orchestra on the back half of the album Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible. Looking at the scope of what they've done, Enter Shikari doesn't even fit in the realm of electronic anymore either. They've got their eyes set on moving beyond genre labels altogether.
