10 Huge Rock Artists That Went Electronic (And Nailed It)

6. Muse

Before any of you say it, it's not hard to see why Muse have gotten so many comparisons to Radiohead. With both frontmen having generally high voices and writing about complex subjects in their songs, it's easy to think that Matt Bellamy has been cribbing notes from Thom Yorke for years now. And just like Radiohead had done when they wanted to switch things up, Muse gave their fans what they didn't know they wanted on the 2nd Law.

For the Radiohead defenders, this should have been the moment that Muse were looked at as trend chasers and left by the wayside...if the actual songs they wrote weren't so good. While the old Muse is still here in the form of songs like Panic Station and Supremacy, the focus of this album is a lot more focused on atmospherics, such as the dubstep influence on the title track Unsustainable or the opening single Madness.

For the people who were coming for another Knights of Cydonia, this felt like a stab in the back at the time. When you look back on it, Muse seemed to be just ahead of the curve here, with songs like Follow Me and Isolated System giving you a glimpse as to how these two opposite genres can get along some of the time. While we have people like Imagine Dragons these days that tend to abuse their electronic side, The 2nd Law isn't ashamed about its rock roots in the slightest.
