10 Huge Rock & Metal Bands Glastonbury Couldn't Handle

7. Pearl Jam

A band who have sold nearly 60 million records worldwide, created the iconic grunge album Ten and track Black and fronted by one of the top ten lead singers of all time, Eddie Vedder, have never played one of the world's biggest festivals in Glastonbury. Why? Well to put it bluntly: a disastrous incident took place in 2000 when a fatal crush occurred at a music festival in Denmark when Pearl Jam were performing. It's likely that this accident will still be felt by festival organisers, making it improbable that the US alt-rockers will be taking part in Glasto while they remain active on the touring front. Despite that horrific circumstance which took place 15 years ago this summer, the band have continued to sell-out huge venues and have starred at festivals including Reading and Leeds and Isle of Wight, but the closest we'll get to seeing Vedder perform at the Somerset field will be if he performs a solo rendition of his second studio album Ukulele Songs. Yes that's right - the frontman released a 30-minute record compiled with uke ditties back in 2011 as he took a step back from the riff-heavy stadium rock vibe for a much more relaxed impression. Now that is something that would be right up Michael Eavis' street!
