10 Huge Rock & Metal Bands Glastonbury Couldn't Handle

6. Led Zeppelin

Rumoured to be one of the inspirations for the festival back when it was formed in 1970, you would imagine that Led Zeppelin have been mainstays of the famous line-up over the years. Nope. Led Zeppelin have never played Glastonbury despite Jimmy Page and Robert Plant both performing separately, and it doesn't look like we'll be seeing what would be one of the most anticipated headline slot any time soon. The classic rock band's last performance together was at London's O2 Arena in 2007 and the likeness of a reform in the near future is slim, however, Page agreed that the band 'should' headline the festival because of their cross-generation appeal in July last year. That followed Robert Plant's set which included a number of Led Zep hits that were filtered alongside the singers solo material. It would be difficult to imagine that the pair and other band members would be willing to come together once more, what with side projects taking place. Michael Eavis' hopes that one day Worth Farm will say the might of Kashmir bellowing out across acres of mesmorized onlookers - Dazed and Confused you could say - but it will take a Whole Lotta Love to make that wish come true. No stairway! Denied.
