10. Jerry Cantrell - Man In The Box Main Riff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CggSqpdi1s One of the most sonically satisfying riffs ever put to record, and a song that overall showed exactly why Alice in Chains were here to stay, regardless of one Layne Staley who departed long before his time. Man in the Box is taken from the band's debut album Facelift, and although the riff is extremely simple, the core 'mini-solo' progression that stems from it is such a great piece, it feeds into the rest of the song perfectly. New album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here was a solid followup to 2009's Black Gives Way To Blue, again featuring new singer William DuVall, and although you could argue over how much Cantrell has progressed as a technical player as rarely do you see him play much outside the basic scales, he remains one incredibly identifiable guitarist, delivering hard-hitting grooves on every album.
