Their seminal self-titled album may have been released in 1999 but it’s the 2000s where Slipknot became the largest force in metal. The band dominated the early years of the decade with music so heavy it seemed obscene that it had swept the nation. Then ended it by selling out arenas with music combining Corey Taylor’s roar with enormous choruses.

Slipknot were (and still are terrifying). With 9 masked members causing havoc on stage, fire, flames and chaos, they’re still one of the most exciting bands in the world. Considering the sheer amount of rage the band spit and level of intensity in their live show, it’s incredible that Slipknot still have brilliant albums in them. Last year the band released We Are Not Your Kind, their best album since 2004s Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses and are matching it with live shows just as killer as 10 years ago.

With energy like this, Slipknot aren’t gonna last forever, and judging by the band’s ‘all or nothing’ attitude, they know this too. Make sure to catch Slipknot on this form while you still can, you may never get to again.
