10 Incredible Classic Rock Albums We Never Got To Hear

9. Dream Factory - Prince

Out of all the great artists of the 80's, there was no one as prolific as Prince. From 1999 to Controversy to Purple Rain, Prince was knocking out classic album after classic album with no sign of slowing down. He probably would have continued on this path, but the label pressure grabbed hold a bit too much.

After years of being his backing band, The Revolution were brought into the fold as real collaborative partners for Prince's next record. The results went so well that the band had enough fantastic material for a triple record that was going to be called the Dream Factory. It seemed like the natural evolution of the band, but Warner Bros. didn't see eye to eye with the band's ideas and talked them down to a double record.

Amid all the business decisions, the Revolution ended up dissolving, with Prince releasing the best cuts as Sign O the Times. This was the start of Prince's many spats with his label which eventually led him to change his name to the Love Symbol and occasionally writing "SLAVE" on his cheek when asked to perform. Some of the other cuts would eventually be released on box sets, but the grand vision Prince originally had will forever be mired in secrecy.
