10 Incredible Frontmen Who Don’t Get The Credit They Deserve

4. Mike Patton

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGQAxk-U1UM €˜You want it all but you can€™t have it€™ sang Mike Patton back in 1990, which as a general rule of thumb this is often true. However, for Patton€™s vocal abilities the same cannot really be said. One of the most varied and erratic vocalists of his era, Faith No More€™s talented singer held nothing back; singing, shouting, screaming, whispering and rapping all sounded good through his vocal cords, and what€™s more - they sounded authentic. Not content to simply become another generic rockstar frontman, Mike€™s reactions to the industry and general avoidance of the spotlight perhaps contributed to his never becoming that well-known outside of the alternative and metal scenes, but arguably his non-compromising and unorthodox stance, mystique and willingness to embrace any style he pleases are sorely needed in today€™s climate. Mike€™s performance style is passionate and unpredictable, much like his singing. This manic intensity allows him to remain exciting and noteworthy even today when so many of his contemporaries have become stale or shadows of their former selves by comparison. Never one to rest on his laurels, Patton has recently started down yet another path; that of a film score composer. However it is well worth catching him with Faith No More at one of their reunion concerts, you'll know far more songs than you think. RECOMMENDED LISTENING: €˜The Real Thing€™ (Faith No More)
