7. Let's All Make Believe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj-xOkHtHRg Named by Q Magazine as the 'Best Lost Track of All Time' in 2006, 'Let's All Make Believe' is constantly thrown around in debates over the best B-side ever, and for good reason too. Not only a surefire bet to have made its respective album, 'Standing on the Shoulder of Giants', a much better collection of songs overall, it also finds songwriter Noel in one of his most philosophical, reflective moods ever. Many make the case for the song being about the departure of former bandmates Bonehead and Guigsy, and while that may remain unconfirmed from the Gallagher himself, lyrics like "So let's all make believe that we're still friends and we like each other. Let's all make believe, in the end we're gonna need each other" are a telling indication of what was going through the mind of a man who was enduring personal hell in the way of divorce, panic attacks (more on that later), and broken friendships. The track is symbolic of the music the band were making at the time; discordant, fragile and tinged with sadness, but not without packing the usual punch that Oasis did so often. It's one of Liam Gallagher's best vocal performances ever, and it could well have been another 'Champagne Supernova'-style moment for the band, ticking all the boxes at a time when the band were struggling to even tick one.
