10 Incredible Rock Singers Who Were In TWO Great Bands
8. Corey Taylor - Slipknot/Stone Sour
When it comes to the greatest screams in the business, Corey Taylor pretty much has his shout trademarked. Even in a band as forceful as Slipknot, Taylor finds a way to weave together melodic passages with some of the most infuriated sounds to come out of the human throat. It's definitely a demanding task in one band, but Taylor has been able to spread his vocal prowess across many different acts.
Whenever Slipknot comes off the road, Corey Taylor has always kept himself busy with Stone Sour, where the focus is much more scaled back. Make no mistake, the music is still incredibly powerful, but the vocals are more catered to a powerful belter rather than the sounds of a psychopath being let loose. Slipknot may be the more iconic band, but Taylor's way with melody has given Stone Sour many different hits like on "Through Glass" and "Bother."
Taylor's pipes have been so in-demand that even the heavyweights from rock's glory days have come calling. Back in the mid 2000's, Taylor got a call to be the singer for Velvet Revolver, but eventually opted to return to his home bands due to scheduling conflicts.
Regardless of which band you find him in, Corey Taylor's shrill delivery has given the new generation of rock its fair share of awesome moments.
