10 Incredible Songs That Took NO Time To Write
2. Oasis - Supersonic
Supersonic by name, Supersonic by nature. Chances are, you’ve probably heard about this one before, but just in case you haven’t, I’ve got you covered pal. The story goes that Oasis had holed themselves up in a recording studio in Liverpool with the intention of recording Bring It On Down as their debut single following their major label signing in 1994.
Unfortunately, (or perhaps fortunately, given how things panned out), the session was lacking a certain je ne sais quois, and frustrated by their tepid efforts, the band decided to go out and get a Chinese takeaway.
Ever the scheming Svengali, however, Noel Gallagher passed up on the kung pao chicken, and instead went into a back room of the studio and nonchalantly wrote what is, arguably, the most potent and electrifying mission statement that any British band has ever announced themselves onto the world stage with.
Supersonic, according to Noely G, was plucked out of thin air in ‘however long it takes six other guys to eat a Chinese meal’, before being recorded and mixed right there and then that very night.
