8. The Ramones - Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)
Another forgotten gem of the Christmas catalogue that you won't hear on any Now Christmas compilations any time soon, The Ramones released this song in 1989 on their album 'Brain Drain' - the last to feature Dee Dee Ramone on bass - and it was a rather cynical track written by Joey. The video for the song features C. J. Ramone - Dee Dee's replacement - on bass and although he is credited with performing all bass tracks on the album, Dee Dee has stated he did not record a note for this album personally. It's ironic a song with the subtext of not wanting to fight tonight should be the last track on the last record to feature such a pivotal member. It's about as alternative as Christmas songs go, and it's unlikely you're going to want to play this at full blast because it certainly doesn't get anybody in the mood.
