10 Least Festive Christmas Songs Ever

8. The Spice Girls - Christmas Wrapping

The original Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses is a seasonal delight. It’s a festive romantic comedy wherein a cynic attempts to avoid the holiday festivities, only for fate to intervene and bring her together with the guy she likes. All wrapped up in a catchy tune, it’s a Yuletide gift for your ears.

You don’t get to hear the original so much anymore though. Not since The Spice Girls decided to cover it. Now theirs is all too often the version that winds up on Christmas playlists or pumping from the speakers in shopping centres. It’s a travesty.

Not only do the Spice Girls' vocals lack the verve of Waitresses’ singer Patty Donahue, they completely leave out the peerless bass line, one of the catchiest bass parts in all of pop.

The Spice Girls' version tramples all over Christmas Wrapping, like your big brother snatching your favourite new toy on Christmas morning and stomping on it.
