10 Legendary Hard Rock Bands That Have Terrible Debut Albums

7. Mate Feed Kill Repeat - Slipknot

When looking back on Slipknot's full discography, it's safe to say that the 9 don't exactly have a bad album to their name. Though some are certainly more dated than others, the army of Maggots don't really have to worry about any certain blemish on the group's career or anything. I mean, unless you don't count Mate Feed Kill Repeat.

It almost feels like a technicality putting something this on here though, considering that the main members of the band weren't even assembled in here just yet. Having original drummer and singer Anders Colsefni, most of these just sound like what would end up on the Knot's debut, only produced much dirtier. Inspired by a role playing game that the band were fixated on, a lot of these songs pale in comparison to what would happen once Corey Taylor brought his distinctive snarl to the fold on songs like Wait and Bleed.

As a first outing though, it's not like it's dogs from back to front, with Joey Jordison already showing himself to be an absolute monster behind the kit on songs like Gently and Tattered and Torn, both of which would see much better iterations on the proper debut and Iowa. For as much as this serves as a nice time capsule for what Slipknot looked like, it's not like it's integral to enjoying their work.
