10 Legendary Rock Bands That Aren't In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

6. Bjork

Whenever you talk about some of the people that have already gotten into the Hall of Fame, there's always the question of whether they even qualify as rock and roll. Even though someone like Jay Z or Tupac Shakur might seem strange for a rock and roll category, they have all shared the kind of attitude that most rock and rollers have had since the days of Chuck Berry. When it comes to Bjork though, rock and roll might be too limiting of a musical genre to even put her in.

For the past few decades, Bjork has practically made a career out of casually taking risks wherever she goes, from the different glitchy sounds to come out of Post to creating a whole album that consists of only the human voice on Medulla. Although not every one of these records is necessarily the most profound musical statement or anything, Bjork has learned her craft in defying trends just like every other rocker, from being influenced by the seasons on Biophilia to diving headfirst into the broad soundscapes on albums like Vespertine and Homogenic.

By rock and roll standards, the kind of genre hopping that goes on on these albums is enough to put artists like Beck to shame, as Bjork fully absorbs her influences and spits it back out at us as some of the most sophisticated art rock imaginable. There have been many rock bands that try to settle you into a groove with their music, but Bjork goes a little further than that. This is the sound of trying to create a whole different universe just through song.
