The song gained further grandiose as it was used as the soundtrack for Charlie's Angels and fitted neatly into the cultural context of the 90's that saw black female singers asserting their worth. Other songs such as the unapologetic Diva and the subversive Suga Mama are a slew of hits that have kept her cause alive over the years. In a particularly frank interview with GQ, the Queen provided one of her many self affirming mantras:
