10 Live Shows That Changed Music History

6. Kanye West's Glow in the Dark Tour

Up until the '00s, the rap show had come a long way than just the mean streets of the East and West Coast. With heavyhitters like Run-DMC knocking open the door for stadium tours around the country, the entire country had gotten used to hard hitting beats that could make an entire arena groove from one track to the next. Kanye West wanted to aim higher though...how about taking your audience on an odyssey for the ages?

Off of the strength of his third outing Graduation, Ye decided to completely redo his stage setup, turning in many different lighting effects to tell this futuristic story night after night. There were even bits and pieces that connected to each other during the actual stage show, where West's verses would be intermingled with the storyline he was trying to tell night after night.

Being inspired by the likes of U2 and the Rolling Stones during his recent stadium run, this really felt like the moment where the rapper became a rock star, as West morphed from the wise-cracking rapper to one of the biggest names in modern music. Though the actual everglow period would be short after the passing of his mother a few months into the tour, the Glow in the Dark experience is still a powerful moment that will live on in the minds of those who saw it.
