10 Major Albums Where Everything Went Wrong
6. Father of All... - Green Day
Every so often, you get records that seem to be made out of necessity. No matter how much you may not want to make a record at the time, that pesky record contract will keep breathing down your neck until you finally put out something that the label can work with. Though this kind of thing is reserved for the more high profile rock acts, it stings coming from one with a punk rock ethic.
Granted, it's not like Father of All is the worst thing in the world or anything. If you're into Green Day thusfar, this record will probably do the trick for you...if only for a little while. Compared to the rest of Green Day's catalog, this thing is criminally short at just under a half hour in runtime. Though that should be gangbusters for a punk album, this album screams like Billie Joe Armstrong wants to be rid of the major labels for good, as evidenced in lackluster songs like I Was a Teenage Teenager.
To put it in perspective, the same year this was released we got a project from the Green Day side project the Network, which was miles better than what we got with the proper band. Despite the quasi edgy title and cover art, there's really not much to get worked up about with this latest offering from pop punk's founding fathers.
