10 Manic Street Preachers Hidden Gem Songs

1. International Blue

Finally, to the current era, the elder-statesmen of British Alternative Rock. There is an argument that 2016-present is the band's least interesting era, with it's two records, Resistance Is Futile and The Ultra Vivid Lament, showing the Manics to be comfortable resting on their laurels for the time being. International Blue is the best track on either of those records and reminds us of why we loved the Manic Street Preachers in the first place.

James is on point, carrying the song on his shoulders with his vocal and guitar stylings. If anything, the song stands out as one that would have been comfortable on Send Away The Tigers a decade previously. The fact that the rest of Resistance Is Futile didn't really live up to that promise, only adds to its power.

The band have always had their ups and downs, and time gets us all in the end, but, as we've learned, the Manics are more than aware of how age can and has affected them over the years and are more than capable of wielding that knowledge as a weapon. Here's to the next era.
