10 Massively Underrated Albums From The 2000s
1. Iron Maiden - Brave New World (2000)
Many classic metal bands struggled through the 90s, few more than Iron Maiden. As their stock fell, lead singer Bruce Dickinson left and the band released a number of universally disliked albums. People began to lose interest in Iron Maiden, they had fallen out of arenas and were becoming a shell of the band they used to be. That was until Bruce Dickinson returned after seven years and the band released Brave New World.
Despite this, people chose to forget the history of Maiden and how Brave New World reignited the band’s presence; namely they chose to snub just how good this record is. Although it features some classic Iron Maiden metal anthems such as Blood Brothers and The Wicker Man, the band rarely play more than one song from the album at any given concert. Furthermore, there are many songs from the album that haven’t been played in well over ten years which is a shame as they definitely deserve dusting off for the live set.
Brave New World is one of Iron Maiden’s best records since 88s Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, the album shows complete excitement from the band to be making music again and is all the better for it. People may decide to only opt for pre-90s Maiden, but we know how much they still had brilliance in them.
