10 Masterpiece Albums From Supposedly "Terrible" Bands
2. Joshua Tree - U2
The Album
To some, U2 are Christ-incarnated in a band. To others they are dino stadium rockers who have developed a habit of installing naff albums on our iPhones while we sleep. But with Joshua Tree, their fifth album, you need to put aside the fact the band are overly hyped and guilty of churning out template rock anthems, as Joshua Tree is one soulful rock monster.
Starting with a religious quandary posed by opener 'Where The Streets Have No Name' the album is a whistlestop tour of the Americana the band were - and still are - obsessed with. Helped by pristine production from Brian Eno (only he could turn something like With Or Without You into something as spectacular as it is) the album has only got better with age and, along with being the band's only real good album, it deserves a place up there with one of the best of all time, too.
Best Track
Nothing touches the gospel-inspired beats of 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For'. The best track off the album.
