10 Metal Bands That Went Acoustic

4. Whorehouse Blues - Motorhead

On the heavier side of rock and roll, Motorhead is basically the litmus test for the mantra 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' While deviating from the formula here and there, Lemmy's signature brand of rock and roll has always been the standard rock that we all loved as kids, only made a lot more gravelly and fed through layers of distortion and fuzz. Or at least...that's what they are in this iteration of the band.

Towards the mid '00s, Lemmy had something else in mind when closing out the album Inferno with Whorehouse Blues. As the title would imply, this is just a straight up blues belter with Phil Campbell on acoustic, as Lemmy keeps everything somewhat casual for his vocal delivery. Even when getting up towards the top of his range, Lemmy is still on easy mode for this song, even breaking out the harmonica to bring a bit of country flair to the whole thing.

As much as this might be considered a turn off for the hardened fans of Motorhead, it's not too far off the mark from where they all came from. Hell, before electric guitars even came into existence, these were the kind of songs that the lonesome drifters of the world would sing as they moved from town to town, so why should this be any different?
