10 Metal Bands Who Made 5 Great Albums In A Row
3. Deftones
Over the past 25 years, Deftones have become one of the coolest, most well-loved and trusted bands in music. They were one of the first bands to combine ethereal and hushed vocals with visceral screams and through technicality, experimentation and creativity, the band continue to push the boundaries of heaviness. For Deftones it’s not always about blast beats and growls but soul-baring darkness.
The band’s five-album run comes in the form of Adrenaline (1995), Around the Fur (1997), White Pony (2000), Deftones (2003) and Saturday Night Wrist (2006) but could continue through the consequent three albums of their career. These five records are the only ones to feature the band's seminal lineup of Chino Moreno, Abe Cunningham, Steph Carpenter, Chi Cheng and Frank Delgado before Cheng’s car crash in 2008 which led to his death.
Every album in Deftones’ career features something special be it the thoughtfulness of Around the Fur, the brutality of their self-titled or the challenging division and haunt of their masterpiece White Pony. Deftones are a rare breed of excellence.
