10 Metal Songs Inspired By Famous Movies

8. Prelude (The Family Trip) – Marilyn Manson

Inspiration: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

‘Prelude (The Family Trip)’ is a twisted album opener that serves as a fitting introduction to Marilyn Manson’s debut album – Portrait of an American Family.

The lyrics from this prelude come straight from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Manson took the words from Wonka’s speech during the infamous tunnel scene and put his own twisted spin on them.

Given how creepy this scene is (even for adults), the lyrics don’t feel out of place within the context of the band’s gothic aesthetic. Whilst the instrumental is almost entirely atmospheric, Manson’s maddening vocal delivery gives the song plenty of resonance.

Most of Willy Wonka & and the Chocolate Factory wouldn’t work as an inspiration for a Marilyn Manson song, but the scene in the tunnel is more than ideal.
