Christian metalcore may seem like an unusual concept, but The Devil Wears Prada certainly don’t hold back when it comes to outright aggression.

‘Alien’ is no exception. This two-and-a-half-minute tune is both intense and catchy. Though the instrumental doesn’t have much resemblance to the tone of the terrifying sci-fi movie, the lyrics certainly do. Frontman Mike Hranica describes the demonic xenomorph throughout the song and he even talks of ‘acidic saliva’ at one point. The song also captures the cat-and-mouse aspect of the film with the lyrics describing the hopelessness of being trapped with no way of escape.

Given the band’s religious leanings, the references made throughout the song are undoubtedly metaphorical. Still, if you’re looking for something different from the metalcore genre, ‘Alien’ is an easy recommendation.
