10 Metal Songs Inspired By Famous Movies

9. Between Angels And Insects – Papa Roach

Inspiration: Fight Club

Nu metal gets a lot of flak from music critics. Whilst the genre is practically dead at this point, there were plenty of decent records by nu-metal bands in the 1990s and the early 2000s.

Papa Roach’s Infest is one of the more well-known albums from this era thanks to the popularity of ‘Last Resort’. The third single from this album – ‘Between Angels and Insects’ – was inspired by one of the most iconic films of the 1990s – Fight Club.

Anti-consumerism is at the heart of this tune and features several references to the wise words of Brad Pitt’s Tyler Durden. Frontman Jacoby Shaddix sings about people working hateful jobs to buy things they don’t need, and how the things we own end up owning us.

‘Between Angels and Insects’ may not be the most imaginative nu-metal tune, but the lyrics make for a fun listen if you’re a fan of Fight Club.
