10 Mistakes In Songs So Good They Kept Them In

8. "Good Riddance" Starts Badly... Twice

This cut from Green Day’s 1997 album Nimrod was actually penned by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong four years earlier in response to his girlfriend of the time leaving him to move to Ecuador.

You would think that having that much time to practice a song would have meant that Armstrong knew it inside out, but when it came to lay it down on tape, he fluffed his lines straight out of the blocks.

If you listen to the recording of the track, you can hear him stumble over the intro not once, but twice, before cursing to himself and launching into the complete take at the third time of asking. He gets away with because of the raw emotion and endearing sincerity of the song, and the recording comes across as brilliantly honest as a result, but it just goes to show that you’re never too prepared to screw something up.
