10 Mistakes In Songs So Good They Kept Them In

6. "Master Of Puppets" Has A Messed Up Solo

I once had an Ethics and Philosophy teacher who absolutely worshipped ‘Tallica. Every Wednesday, fourth period, you’d arrive at his classroom to hear The Black Album blasting from his computer, and he loved nothing more than reminding us of how Kirk Hammett could make a guitar bleed. But how do you explain ol’ Kirky screwing up the last solo in Master of Puppets then, Mr. Bowman, uh?

How do you explain that?

To be fair to Hammett, and Mr. Bowman, the metal gods styled this one out pretty nicely, but legend has it that when that final face-melting piece of shreddery was laid down on record, the axeman inadvertently pulled the top string off the fretboard of his guitar, leading to a super high-pitched, siren-like wail. Rather than beating himself up about it though, Kirk and the boys decided that they liked the unorthodox sound, and elected to keep it.

Thus was born one of the most iconic moments of one of the most iconic metal songs of all time. A* for the outcome lads, D- for the effort.
