10 Modern Rock Bands You Need To Listen To
6. Bad Cop Bad Cop
The lasting strains of pop punk these days just seem to be getting more and more tired as it goes on. Though we do have some real gems like Neck Deep coming down the pipeline, people like 5 Seconds of Summer just seem to be using the genre like a costume rather than a legitimate way to express your artistry. How's about we throw things back to a '90s groove...and most of all, make it bratty as all hell.
Being a part of the new riot grrl wave starting to gel recently, Bad Cop Bad Cop is one of the most forceful pop punk bands operating out of California these days. Oh, and these gals fit pop punk to an absolute tee, with vocalists Stacey Dee and Jennie Cotterill singing how Tom DeLonge would probably sing these days if he still gave a damn.
These ladies aren't skimping out on the punk side of the spectrum either, with songs that are aimed squarely at toxic masculinity and sticking it to all forms of injustice in the world. Then again, we should expect nothing less coming out of Fat Wreck Chords, now should we? If that last NOFX left you feeling cold as hell and wondering where the good times went, here's some tunes that will remind you of why punk struck a nerve with you back in the day.
