10 Modern Rock Music Artists With A Throwback Sound

8. The Sonic Dawn

Moving from Sweden to Denmark now, we find ourselves on the doorstep of psychedelic rock outfit The Sonic Dawn.

Emil Bureau, Jonas Waaben, and Niels Fuglede - yep, they're definitely Danish - formed the band in 2013 under the name The Mind Flowers.

If that doesn't give you a clue as to what era of music they're aping, then the floral shirts and long hair definitely will.

The Sonic Dawn are very clearly inspired by early 60s rock 'n' roll. There's more than a hint of early Beatles to them, as they utilise the same jangly riffs, catchy drumming, and close harmonies that made the Fab Four such a big deal.

They've also ventured into the world of psychedelia, keeping in line with their Liverpudlian idols. They've made use of the sitar in several songs, which is about as Beatlesy as you can get.

Don't think of them as just a tribute act though, as The Sonic Dawn still feel unique enough to stand out on their own.

If you have an itch for some old-school pop rock with modern production values, then The Sonic Dawn should help you scratch it.
