2. Infinite - Eminem
Slim Shady’s first release, Infinite, was a failure by both sales and reception. Releasing in November 1996 on label Web Entertainment, Eminem partially funded this album while working as a kitchen assistant. Infinite is not the Eminem you know, but a young man searching for recognition.
Released only on cassette and vinyl, the album can’t even be digitised easily in high quality .mp3 with a lack of CD release. According to Eminem, Infinite sold all of the 500 copies made. An unplayed original vinyl is currently valued at almost $2000.
At least we know the comfort that Eminem has the master tapes, as the title track Infinite was remastered and released for the 20th anniversary in 2016. It is the only track from the album that you can stream.
Eminem has referenced the project on his Recovery and Revival albums, but the full release is not on streaming sites and likely never will be. Eminem’s next release, The Slim Shady EP, is also unavailable on digital platforms. His major label debut The Slim Shady LP would release to worldwide success in 1999.
