10 More Hard Rock Music Artists Who Released Two Great Albums In 2 Consecutive Years
5. Van Halen - Van Halen & Van Halen II
Like Whitesnake, Van Halen also put out one album every year for their first half-decade of existence.
In fact, the only year that didn't see a release during the original David Lee Roth era was 1983. Maybe he was taking a nap.
Any mixture of Women and Children First (1980), Fair Warning (1981), and Diver Down (1982) could have made this list, but sometimes you just can't beat the original.
In 1978, Van Halen shocked the world with their all-guns-blazing self-titled debut release. The first song on that album is none other than Runnin' with the Devil, which definitely made people sit up and take notice right away.
Keen to capitalise on this lightning bolt of success, the band bundled back into the studio to get Van Halen II ready for 1979. That album's opening track is the less-famous You're No Good, but hey, that's still a good song.
These two albums capture Van Halen in their infancy, when they were still pushing the boundaries of what rock music could be. Both still sound great today, so just imagine how thrilling they must have been back in the late 70s.
