10 More Hard Rock Music Artists Who Released Two Great Albums In 2 Consecutive Years

3. Metallica - Kill Em All & Ride The Lightning

Metallica love taking gaps between releasing albums, having only put out 11 studio records in 40 years.

Despite this, there have been two sets of consecutive years in which the band has put out two albums.

In 1996 and 1997, they released Load and Reload. However, some people take a real issue with post-Black Album Metallica, so let's stick to the classic stuff.

The band's first album, Kill Em All, hit shelves in 1983. It was less a breath of fresh air and more a nuclear-powered hurricane that blew everyone off their feet and straight through a sheet of glass.

One of the thrashiest albums to ever thrash, Kill Em All set a new standard for heavy metal and established Metallica as ones to watch.

Fans were treated to another release in 1984 in the form of Ride the Lightning. Whilst also containing songs that could collapse a building, the band experimented with quasi-ballads like Fade to Black and instrumental pieces like The Call of Ktulu.

Not only are these albums terrific, but they helped set the stage for one of the biggest metal bands the world has ever seen.

Also, stop hating on Load/Reload. Those albums are good.
