10 More Hard Rock Music Artists Who Released Two Great Albums In The Same Year

4. Deep Purple - Burn & Stormbringer

Considering that they've put out approximately 800 albums with approximately two million different members over the years, it's not a shock that Deep Purple actually qualify for this list twice over.

The loudest band on the planet released both their first and second album in 1968, but we think the more interesting combo to examine is the one that hit shelves at either end of 1974.

It wasn't a guarantee that Burn would be a good album. Vocalist Ian Gillan had left the band, leaving his spot to an unknown pair named David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.

You'll probably recognise at least one of those names, so you know it turned out fine.

Burn was a massive success, thanks in part to its banging opening song. Come November 1974, the band were ready to do it all over again with Stormbringer.

Weirdly, this dyed in the wool metal band went a bit funky on this album. People didn't seem to mind though, as it also sold well and was praised by critics.

One person who minded was guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, who left the band shortly after. But hey, you can't please 'em all.
