10 More Hard Rock Music Artists Who Released Two Great Albums In The Same Year
3. Motorhead - Overkill & Bomber
If a "Motorhead Album Name Generator" had existed back in 1979, then it probably would have thrown up the titles of the two records the band put out in that year.
Starting in March, Lemmy and his angry pals released their second album Overkill. By the muttonchopped madman's own admission, the band were getting their sound together and this point and boy did it show.
The end result was an album that is widely regarded as one of the best Motorhead ever did. At just under 35 minutes long, Overkill clips by at a rapid pace, filling your ears with the sounds of huge tracks like No Class, Stay Clean, and the title number.
Possibly because Lemmy wanted more cowboy hats (or Nazi memorabilia, but that's a story for another time), the band released Bomber in October.
Though not as iconic as its older sibling, Bomber still put a great shift in and has its place in the hearts of the Motorhead faithful.
The band rounded out '79 with the release of On Parole, a collection of studio recordings originally intended for the band's debut.
However, since Motorhead themselves distanced themselves from this, let's do the same.
