10 More Hard Rock Vinyl Albums That Are Worth A Lot Of Money

4. Bathory - Bathory

It's crazy how one tiny detail can wildly affect an album's worth many years down the line. Case in point - the colour of the goat on the front of Swedish black metal band Bathory's self-titled album.

Bathory released the record in 1984 and historians have since gone on to include it in discussions about the first black metal record of all time. As the band and their style were unknown at the time, the first run of albums was limited to 1,000 pressings.

They sold out within two weeks.

Originally, the goat on the front cover was a yellow-gold colour, as per the band's request. Frontman Thomas "Quorthon" Forsberg didn't like the finished article though and demanded that all future pressings render the goat in white instead.

Now, some 40 years after it was born, the gold goat version of Bathroy is considered a collectors item and is worth a staggering $1,446.99. All because one guy didn't like the way it looked.

Versions with the white goat only go for $284.05, which is still pretty good, but it pales in comparison to its brightly-coloured cousin.
