10 More Rock Music Songs That Have Been Played The Most Live

6. Rock Of Ages - Def Leppard (2,026 Times)

Into the 2,000+ plays now and a song so famous that it got a whole musical named after it. Sure, the song itself doesn't feature in the musical, but never mind.

In 1983, British glam metal act Def Leppard released Pyromania, which would go on to become one of the biggest-selling records of all time. The song Rock of Ages was released as the second single, behind Photograph. Although it sold better in the UK, Photograph outdrew it in the US, leading to somewhat of a rivalry between the two tracks.

Rock of Ages and Photograph are numbers one and two on Def Leppard's all-time live plays list, with the former winning out by 2,026 performances to 2,013. They're the only two Leppard songs to be played over 2,000 times, with third place belonging to Pour Some Sugar on Me on 1,870.

Like most of the band's big hitters, Rock of Ages sounds perfect when played in a stadium with thousands of people singing along. It's this formula that made Def Leppard and their contemporaries so successful in the 1980s and why they can still charge an extortionate amount for their concerts today.
